Description
A stone’s throw from the crumbling, eminent headstones of Père Lachaise lies a lesser known path. Follow the overgrown railway tracks to the end of the line, searching for the city of love’s original claim to fame. A labyrinth of limestone walls once held myriad orchards – housing the finest peaches of France. Answering to an unseasonably warm spring, the fruit has been harvested early; today’s expedition reveals only sunflowers and wild roses, but a flask of French Earl Grey offers consolation.
